Most families today seem liberal enough to allow their girls free; unlike the common custom we see in India of offending someone's freedom in the name of their gender. We don't get to see such cases anymore where the girl is subjugated to whatever pleases the family members , especially the male members. But the ground reality is quite different from what we observe in our metro cities.even today there are people who do not mind their son's love affair but the daughter's is an offense. It seems nature has changed its timings of evening and night for respective genders. 7 pm evening is time high enough for a girl to step out alone in the evening but even 10 at night isn't a time high for a boy to go out. If at all it is someone's mistake it is the boys' who very easily drool around girls and show off their cheap trick wondering every girl out at night is up for "something". I don't believe such things to happen in the 21st century but that's a personal experience, if you step out in some western outfit people stare at her as if she's up to something and let her wear a salwar suit or say a saree and she's as gentle as anything. Why does that thought even exist? Does that mean every Indian girl dressing western is a whore and every Indian styled girl is a devi(goddess). Aah!! The typical Indian TV soup concept. I mean how can someone's modernization ever show that the girl is bad at character. We don't say that Indian style of living is bad or doesn't dignify character but saying that my clothes show my character isn't rights anyway. The best that I've heard is "scientists have discovered that the girls wearing short dresses(shorts, mini skirts, frocks, tube tops etc) woo guys to get close to them and its only a way for them to flaunt their bodies"..... Uhh!! thats the limit. If boys can't control their testosterone it's not a reason the girl should stop wearing what she likes and above all that's her choice . Even if she tries wooing you you're a white coller, just ignore her. But that would be against your chivalry isn't it? Or are you just helping the girl out in meeting her desires. bull shit. I'm fed up of all those male favoring arguments. It is not possible for me to tolerate that a girl is blamed for every single sin that exists in the society. If she's raped she must have wooed the boy or must have presented herself to be raped. why don't your boys have hormones which overflow seeing a girl? If she's acid attacked, she's betrayed him and his true love; if someone fingers her in public , it's the boys right to at least have a look at beautiful girls and try'n attract them towards himself and if at someone in the family witnesses it the girl is blamed again; if she talks/chats with a boy late at night it must be her boyfriend. What rubbish thoughts are these which have made boys our unclaimed lords and an opposition means you're trying to change the culture. Well the roots to all this are quite deep. Even our mythology shows the man as the powerful, the homemaker and woman, the subjugated one. Calling him your "swami"(owner) itself shows that our culture has put men on the heights where they need not be. Then come the custom of veiling your faces in front of elder men, especially imposed on Hindu women after marriage and in Muslims there's parda. Why parda only for women? why should only they suffer. Another wonderful incidence that clicks my mind is if a married Hindu girl goes to her in-laws' house she's got to wear a saree and cover her head before the family elders. Well if that's so the why isn't it a compulsion for men to wear the ever so difficult to handle dhoti kurta in their in-laws' home? Why rules only for women? And of course she's got to be the power woman to cook for the entire family all the demanded delicacies, work like a labour all the day, look presentable before the guests , not expect any appreciation and never get tired of working. Why then the "daamad" isn't forced to burn his fats and work for his in-laws. Many men don't even respect their in-laws and expect the wives to love his family terribly and be very good to them. Where does such a male chauvinistic thinking develop from? Is this what manliness is? Is this what we call gender equality ? Is reservation for women enough good a way to prevent women from the male dominated society? And what about those girls who just don't get a chance because of being one. Is there a reservation in chances as well? Equality alone can negate the need of reservation.Equality brings harmony and equal opportunities. In my opinion, ever since childhood the seeds of gender equality must be sown into the minds of our little princes and princesses. Education alone is the solution. Its time for the society to treat girls with honour and equality.

No heaven as such
The stage of life
is really so strange
players come and go
life runs with rage.
The last days of my school
really memorable they would be
neither others will forget
nor will be forgotten by me.
People change places change
and change is life
At once they are smooth as silk
at once sharp as a knife.
I would have to move away
heading towards a better future
with school teachers and friends
missing me, and me them forever.
It feels like time should freeze
let me breathe in my school's breeze
Fill in my eyes the playgrounds and classes
the beautiful flowers and green grasses.
Oh! The library and the canteen
My favorite haunts you've been.
My heart, my teachers and lovely friends
Oh! these corridors, my scratched bench.
I shall never forget you all
all the fun ROLF and LOL.
I'll really miss it all so much
because on earth, no heaven as such.....

Am I safe?
Though India is turning a super power but a country with powerless women is never powerful. It was today when I felt the pain of a woman. Though she may hide her fear in the curtains of education and modern society, is she ever safe from this cruel society? It has been noticed many a times that a girl who is not an adult even in the eyes of the law is being fingered in public…..
She may even be an adult in the eyes of the law but playing with her emotions, life and self respect is the right of none. Not even god permits anyone to do something forcefully with anyone. There are instances where men have raped a 5 year old girl and murdered her mercilessly. Is this the awe of punishment by country laws? Perhaps it is the mistake of the girl that she is trying to be very stylish and in doing that took some wrong step but how can a five year old child be so much sexually appealing to an 18-25 year old man that he rapes her? Is this not a question mark on the country’s justice? Is it not a question mark on the modernizing society where men and women are equal? Even if the culprit is punished will it bring back that innocent child back?
Somewhere we can blame girls also because they being attracted towards the western culture have forgotton that simplicity brings beauty and not the shamelessness that they do in the name of fashion. But maximum cases that we’ve seen or heard of are of villages, where women are strictly kept in veils (parda). So how can we say that western culture is its cause? It is only shamelessness that is today widespread among women, that is the cause of such incidents. It is also the replacement of love by lust in human hearts that is the root cause of rapes. Sometimes men do all this rubbish in order to prove their power and manliness. BUT HOW LONG SHALL WE TOLERATE THIS MASCULINE POWER?
That’s not it. There are examples like polygamy, female infanticide, child marriage, prostitution, etc. If these are not the examples of the lusty mindset of men, then what are these? If they do not trust other men of the society then the trick they use is parda foe their wives, daughters and daughters-in-law. This is so unjust with the females. Who are men to rule over them? Who has ever come up to listen to their woes? Who has given the right to men to ruin the human rights of women? To hell with such husbands, brothers, sons, fathers-in law and friends who do not trust the men and for their distrust give pains to women. What is our mistake?
Why infanticide for women? It is so shocking that the present sex ratio in India is 914 girls against 1000 boys, the lowest ever after independence. So disturbing! So disgusting! Why do these fathers forget that more than them the child’s mother who has kept it in her womb for 9 months? This is high time and I am fed up of this chaining myself like a dog of the society. It is a warning to all the orthodox people that if they do not give up their habits there would be a time when these women shall seem them to be the goddesses of death and destruction.

A dreamy wish
Seems like life is turning good
I am back to my home
Back to friends and family
Back from the darkness dome.
I am back to my own school
With all my teachers great
I don’t wish to go away
I am very afraid.
I want back my old life
Which I never did heed
I never did wonder that
It’s my severe need.
I miss those old roads
Where I sometimes did ride
Where all the things were so clear
and joy spread far and wide.
I missed this place so much
I don’t wish to go away
I don’t have friends here, I feel
That time’s trying me to sway.
We had neighbors and people around
But like bees they all sound
Time is no more unjust to me
Now its time to be happy.
I met my teacher and schoolmates
And all those k.g. kids
And now I felt the happiness
When some old friend meets.
But suddenly this all fades in darkness
As if in a fast stream.
No teachers, school, no friends nothing…
This was only a dream.
I am back to a strange place
Where my heart always weeps.
Those old memories I wish to trace
But distance far us keeps.
I wish this dream come true
I meet them all with time who blew
Away from me still part of me
May such dreams I always see.
If not in reality then at least
In my dreams let this horizon meet.
